Translational Researcher

As a Translational Researcher you will understand the big data challenges you are confronted with on a daily basis. BIOtransR takes that knowledge to look at how these challenges can be translated into an understanding of the real issues, solutions and gaps in the current data tool portfolio.

Our starting point is the need to have manageable, quality, informative research data in order to publish and being able to attract funding.

Without sound data standardization or curation we be deprived of the ability to engage in a truly collaborative exploitation of new and existing datasets and be ill prepared for the big data challenges. Without addressing the challenges we may see a counterproductive result in our drive to understand the biology of diseases.

The lack of awareness around the value of medical research data, and the importance of each step in data value chain is at the core of our big data challenges. Translational researchers have the opportunity to understand and meet these challenges, opening up the potential of data sharing and data reuse.

Fundamental supporting actions will form part of this learning. A key aspect here is data privacy and security. As a researcher, data privacy and security, as well as standards based study design is often not a primary concern. However an understanding of these issues is essential and a common approach can help us help ourselves.

BITRANSR meeting aims to increase awareness of the challenges and help form our knowledge and approach to ensure we can exploit the opportunities in the new world of data. Together we can help understand how the medical research landscape is orientated and what lays ahead of us regarding challenges in the field.

Translational researchers will have the chance to share and learn on the value and power of integrated data and how to perform in a collaborative manner to fuel personalized medicine.

In attending this event you will be able to hear from and discuss approaches and issues with key opinion leaders in the field of data and knowledge management, and experience a focused and meaningful networking opportunity.
